What’s Happening in August 2021

Summertime… Between camps and vacations and just getting out and enjoying the weather, the time seems to have flown by. Here’s the plan for the month of August 2021:

August 1

Church is cancelled this week! Have a great long weekend!

August 8

On August 8 at 1pm, we are going to be borrowing from some of our brothers and sisters in the Religious Society of Friends, a.k.a. the Quakers. A Quaker service, which is called “a meeting for worship,” is characterized by silence, listening, and careful consideration. We’ll the start the time together by introducing what it is we’re doing — so don’t worry if you’ve never done a Quaker-style meeting before: we haven’t either!

If you’re interested in how this week went, check out our write-up.

August 15 — UPDATED

The Sunday event that is happening on the ides of August (is every 15th of the month called an “ides”?) isn’t a typical “church” event: we’ll be meeting at Jay and Margie’s to play games and eat together. Email info@ajesuscommunity.ca for details.

(We were going to go for a walk, but the smoke from the forest fires and the heat are a bit too intense to make that safe. Pray for those who are affected by this most directly!)

August 22 — UPDATED

On August 22 at 1pm, Joy is going to be doing a more talk-centric/teaching-oriented presentation. This falls under our “Word!” Sunday category. Here’s a preview from Joy on what she’ll be speaking on:

This week we’re gonna talk about how God really sees us and how we can tap into that grace-filled vision! There may be lots of verses to look up and read aloud, so bring your bibles and your sword drill fingers!

Email info@ajesuscommunity.ca for info on location or for the Zoom link.

August 29

This fifth Sunday of the month is a Sabbatical Sunday. Basically, this just means that there’s no church! Take a break!

As more details unfold about each week, including locations, we’ll update this page. If you would like to be on the mailing list, send an email to info@ajesuscommunity.ca.
