The year is barrelling to its ending like one of Elon Musk’s hyperloop trains, which travels at over 700mph, but also may not work. This month at A Jesus Community*, there are several things underway, including a bit of service, a bit of learning, a bit of community, and more. Details are below.

*Church name is currently being reviewed for less-hippie-esque, but also possibly more bland, alternatives.

November 6, 2021 (Saturday) @ 1pm

We will be packing lunches at Mount Carmel at 1pm on Saturday, November 6 for Inner City Pastoral Ministry (ICPM) to use in their work with people living on street level.

There won’t be an official church service the next day (Sunday, November 7), which is perhaps helpful since it is also the end of Daylight Savings. Now you won’t run the risk of being an hour late! Or is it an hour early?

To continue the weekend’s theme of “loving our neighbours,” though, consider asking someone you love — or are wanting to learn to love — over for a meal or visit that day (keeping in mind COVID restrictions, of course!). No need to tell them which category they fall into!

This month’s “Borrow Sunday” will borrow from the long-standing church practice of sharing testimonies. We’re calling this “Olde Time-y Testimony Sunday.” We will learn about why this practice has been important to Christians and hear a few testimonies ourselves — don’t worry, though: no one will be put on the spot!

Are you always wishing for deeper community and wondering how to get to know the people you know? Look no further. This week at Event Sunday, we are going to be having fun getting to actually know one another. Come as you are… but it never hurts to reflect on your favourite movie, book, etc.
I promise a non-confrontational morning of good fun — and that you’ll leave with at least one less acquaintance (not cause you offended them, but because they’re now a friend!
