What’s Happening in May 2023

I was trying to find something profound to say about the May — which, of course, is an important time in the labour movement, contains a significant date for Star Wars fans, and (this year) will also see the crowning of a new head of state for Canada — but the main thing I can think of is that the weather is truly awesome in Edmonton right now. The snow is gone. People are biking. And it’s warm. (Maybe too warm? 😬)

Say what one will about our winters, Edmonton has a mighty fine downtown. Photo by Alex Pugliese on Unsplash

All Peace Christian Community events, as per usual, take place at Mount Carmel Bible College starting at 11am (unless they don’t):

  • Sunday, May 7: This Sunday, we’re going to be hearing a bit about what God has been doing in the world! In addition to hearing some specific stories, we’ll also have a discussion about the ways people have been seeing God at work in ministries, agencies, NGOs, or everyday people. Sunday School will also be available for kids in Grade 6 and under.
  • Sunday, May 14: This Sunday we’re going to be having a time of worship together. We’ll be singing songs about Jesus’s work in the world — but singing is of course not the only way that you can worship! So there will also be some tables with paper to draw or doodle on, spaces and books to help with reflection, and if you want to sing — there’s that too.
  • Sunday, May 21: We’re going to be doing some service activities around Mount Carmel. There will be some cleaning jobs and handyperson jobs. Although there will be cleaning and other supplies at Carmel, if you think you’ll need gloves, etc. please bring them with you. We’ll be meeting at 11am.
  • Sunday, May 28: Jeff will be introducing a series on God and the Fruit of the Spirit this week for our Word Sunday. We’re meeting at Carmel at 11am. There will be Sunday school for kids in Grade 6 and under.

Details on the next few weeks will be up in the near term.

If you’re interested in being on the email list for more details on what’s happening from week to week, send Jeff a note.
