What’s Happening in September 2023

Fall evokes in my mind leaves gently floating downwards to land ever so softly on a fire-coloured pile. As I experience it, though, fall arrives like a bullet train. What? It’s already here?

Hopefully, though, the first few weeks of September do end up being life-giving for you and yours! And may you have many opportunities to take in the beauty of the season.

  • September 1–3: This month kicks off with our annual retreat at Meadowlodge Bible Camp. People will start arriving at 6:30pm on Friday night, and the plan is to leave around 12:30 (before lunch) on Sunday. People are welcome to come out for all or part of the weekend. If you want more information, feel free to reach out to Jeff. (N.B.: In case it’s not clear, this means that nothing is happening at Carmel this weekend.)
  • Sunday, September 10: We’ve got one last weird week lined up, which is helping out with the Mount Carmel Bible College Elijah Run Fundraiser & BBQ. Feel free to come help with the food prep (starting around 3pm — i.e., don’t come at the typical time as there won’t be anyone there!) or to walk/run as part of the fundraiser. Early bird registration for doing the run/walk itself ends September 1, but you can still register after that.
  • Sunday, September 17: This Sunday we’re back to meeting at Mount Carmel at 11am. Jeff is going to be talking about the “Self-Control of Jesus” to wrap up our summertime fruit of the Spirit discussion. There will also be Sunday school for kids in Grade 6 and under.
  • Sunday, September 24: Looking ahead to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Sept 30), this Sunday is going to be at Mount Carmel at 11am. We’ll be hearing from Ben Peltz. Ben is a Campus and First Nations Ministry Leader with Vision Ministries Canada (the organization that Jay works with), chaplain at Trent University, and a pastor to a church in Curve Lake First Nation. More information on Ben is here! Ben will be joining us via Zoom, but there will be time for Q&A after as well. There will be Sunday school for kids in Grade 6 and under as well.

If you’re interested in being on the email list for more details on what’s happening from week to week, send Jeff a note.
