There was no snowfall this Halloween and my kids were able to dress up properly rather than dress up as skiers and mountain climbers. But the snowy weather came soon thereafter. I can’t say that I’m a fan in any way (five years in southern Ontario wrecked me), but it does look sort of beautiful, I’ll admit.
Here’s what’s happening at Peace Christian Community starting in November:
- Saturday, November 5 (2–4pm): We will be packing lunch bags for the Inner City Pastoral Ministry (ICPM) downtown ministry at Mount Carmel.
- Sunday, November 6: The ICPM lunches will be delivered to the Bissell Centre downtown at 8am — there is likely space available if anyone would like to attend the service there. No church otherwise this week!
- Sunday, November 13: Ruth will be preaching this week about “how can we be friends?” 11am at Carmel. Zoom is also available.
- Sunday, November 20: Many churches around the world are celebrating the Feast of Christ the King today. We’re going to be borrowing from the liturgy and worship practices of other Christian traditions to turn our attention towards God and reflect on how Jesus is King. 11am at Carmel. Zoom is also available.
- Sunday, November 27: We will be joining our friends at Ministik Community Church for their worship service with a potluck to follow. So don’t come to Mount Carmel this week! Contact Jeff for more details.
- Sunday, December 4: Jeff will be preaching this week about hopes and fears, with communion to follow. 11am at Carmel. Zoom is also available.
- Sunday, December 11: Jim Gurnett from Inner City Pastoral Ministries (ICPM) will be speaking to us and sharing about their ministry of presence with people living in poverty in Edmonton. 11am at Carmel. Zoom is also available.
- Sunday, December 18: This week we will be taking part in an old Victorian church service called “Nine Lessons and Carols,” which typically gets practiced on or near Christmas Eve. 11am at Carmel. Zoom is also available.
- Saturday, December 24: For those who are interested in attending, our friends at Capilano Christian Assembly are holding their annual Candlelight Christmas Eve Service tonight at 6:30pm, with refreshments to follow. For more information see their website: www.capilano.org.
- Sunday, December 25: No church today, but hope you and yours have a truly merry Christmas!!
More updates forthcoming!
