Eliot may have said that April was the cruellest month, but maybe he was being ironic given that it starts off with April Fools\u2019 Day. The online April Fools\u2019 Day pranks got me once again: this time, it was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blogto.com\/city\/2022\/04\/ontario-4-day-work-week-mandate\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an article<\/a>&nbsp;claiming that Ontario was going to be mandating a four-day work week. C.S. Lewis may have famously called hymns \u201cfifth-rate poems set to sixth-rate music,\u201d but if you grew up singing them, you\u2019ll know that they can stick in your head like a Coldplay song. (I wonder if Coldplay would ever do an album of hymns?).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"9946\">We\u2019ll be meeting at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/g.page\/MountCarmelYear?share=\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mount Carmel<\/a>&nbsp;at 11am as usual (and via Zoom).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"b995\">April 10, 2022 @ 11am<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"6b09\">To celebrate Palm Sunday, Joy will be running a Palm Sunday School event. This is going to be very kid-friendly (whether literal kids or the young of heart). More details coming soon! Rock. Gospel. Cosplay. What\u2019s better than reflecting on Good Friday than to watch Andrew Lloyd Webber\u2019s monumental musical,&nbsp;<em>Jesus Christ Superstar<\/em>? Doing it with some friends while dressed in costumes! Maybe Judas\u2019s red unitard is what you\u2019re aiming for. Or white bell-bottoms? Or maybe everyone will just wear whatever the priests have got on their heads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"4e3e\">For this year\u2019s annual&nbsp;<em>Jesus Christ Superstar<\/em>&nbsp;Good Friday event, we are going to be meeting at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/g.page\/MountCarmelYear?share=\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mount Carmel Bible College<\/a>&nbsp;at 6:30pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"b3ce\">Can\u2019t think of a good costume? Dress up as N.T. Wright, a New Testament scholar, who&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fday1.org%2Farticles%2F5d9b820ef71918cdf2002f98%2Fnt_wright_a_very_odd_sort_of_king__excerpt_from_simply_jesus&amp;sa=D&amp;sntz=1&amp;usg=AOvVaw1iBrjp24MHzeVZ-M6Yrd28\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">talks<\/a>&nbsp;about the first time he encountered the musical:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"41fb\">I had known Jesus all my life; better still, perhaps, to say that he had known me. [\u2026] But as my bride and I moved in to our basement apartment, I listened to Superstar. [\u2026] It was as though all the energy of the popular culture of the 1960s had suddenly swung around, away from its preoccupation with sex, drugs, and rock \u2019n\u2019 roll, and was looking again at the Jesus it had almost forgotten. There was a sense of, \u201cOh, you\u2019re still there, are you? Where do you fit? What was it all about anyway?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"df30\"><strong>(N.B. No dressing up is required for this event! If the threat of cosplay is exactly that \u2014 i.e., a threat \u2014 to you, then by all means just come as you are!)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"499a\">Multi-Church Easter Sunday Celebration | April 17, 2022 @ 10:30am (Coffee starts at 10am)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"4948\">To celebrate Easter this year in a big way, we will be gathering with two of our sister churches, Millcreek Christian Fellowship and Southview Christian Fellowship, at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/g.page\/MountCarmelYear?share=\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mount Carmel<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"9fe0\">The service will get started around 10:30am, but there will be coffee and time to catch up with people starting at 10am. At 11:30am, there will be an Easter Egg hunt. (While the theology of Easter Eggs may be up for debate, the theology of fun shouldn\u2019t be!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"879b\">More details are forthcoming, but we are very excited to worship with our brothers and sisters on one of the most significant dates in the Church Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"e4f1\">April 24, 2022 @ 11am<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"7854\">For Word Sunday this month, we will be having a discussion about some of the topics raised in the Easter Sunday talk: what does meeting Jesus at home look like? We will be meeting at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/g.page\/MountCarmelYear?share=\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mount Carmel<\/a>&nbsp;as per usual and on Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"a220\">As more details unfold about each week, we\u2019ll keep updating this page. Please note that our in-person events will follow any applicable guidelines for COVID-19. Currently, as masks are not legislated, we would welcome people to do what they are most comfortable doing (either wearing a mask or not) with love and consideration for others.
