We\u2019re a group of family and friends wanting to grow a new community of Jesus followers that we\u2019re calling A Jesus Community<\/strong>. (Christians have been doing this for the past couple of millenia.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our hope for \u201cthis version\u201d of Jesus community includes all of the following foci and buzzwords:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus, FoodFolksFun,<\/em> Mission of God, Minimal Ecclesiology,<\/em> Flexibility & Variety, Kids Matter, <\/em>Jesus, Doubt & Questions \/ <\/em>Civil Discourse, Contextual (i.e., we\u2019re here in Edmonton in the 2020s), <\/em>Jesus, Welcoming,<\/em> Justice, Centered-Set Theology \/ Generous Orthodoxy, <\/em>Jesus, Deep Thinking and Plain Language, <\/em>Participation and Empowerment, Jesus, <\/em>Ancient Future Faith, and \u2026 NETWORK.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNetwork\u201d isn\u2019t more<\/strong> important than all those other words, but it\u2019s important<\/strong> to say that our strong desire is that this new church will be near the centre of a network of social enterprises, book clubs, house fellowships, artist collectives, affinity groups, micro-churches, larger (and even established) churches, special events; adding and refining these as things unfold. We think of them as networked sub-communities with different foci; but with fuzzy membership edges, cross-pollination, intersection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We hope that network (we\u2019re calling this The Edmonton Network Experiment<\/strong>) can help provide room for people with little or lots of interest in Jesus; but who might also desire community, meaning, opportunities to work together to do good; or who love the Arts or thoughtful conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of this is just a dream as of mid-2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But our small core that forms the explicitly Christian community (see above for another look at our \u201cflavour\u201d) is already gathering in Edmonton or Sherwood Park on the first four Sundays of every month, usually early in the afternoon. (Of course, because we love flexibility and variety, make sure to check our website to be sure of the when and where: ajesuscommunity.ca<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
