The postings here have really tailed off. And that is okay — I think the wide readership will forgive me! I do still think that there’s value in having a bit of a record of the goings on and ongoing experimentation involved in our little group here in Edmonton. But maybe we’ll scale these posts back to more of a seasonal or quarterly event, with the odd ad hoc message or two. Cue the featured image!
The best way to get updates on what’s happening from week-to-week over the fall is to ask to be put on our mailing list. Jeff sends a short email with some details on Sunday, a Zoom link for those who will be joining remotely, and typically a few links that might be of interest. Typically, we are still meeting at Mount Carmel Bible College at 11am on Sundays, but getting the email can ensure you don’t get surprised on the Sunday we are doing something different. If you’re more of a lurker, though, you can also find out what’s happening by checking the church calendar.
We’ll keep this page updated as new events get added. Here’s where we’re at to date:
- Sunday, September 4: Kicking off the fall right with a Sabbatical Sunday: there’s no church today!
- Sunday, September 11: We’re helping out Mount Carmel today by volunteering at their annual “Elijah Run.” Come to cut veggies, stay to eat them!
- Sunday, September 18: We’ll be singing hymns together this week at Carmel.
- Sunday, September 25: This Sunday we’re doing Potluck Brunch and talking shop about church for the fall.
- Sunday, October 2: We’ll be reflecting on Truth and Reconciliation this Sunday.
- Sunday, October 9: We’ll be having Thanksgiving Lunch at Jeff and Ruth’s and hear a bit about the work of CHiLD and The River.
- Sunday, October 16: We’re going to sing a couple of songs and Leah will be leading us through a focussed prayer exercise.
- UPDATED | Saturday, October 22: For any Tolkien nerds who are interested, we’ll be watching the season one Rings of Power finale at Jay and Marg’s.
- Sunday, October 23: Nils will be teaching and leading us in discussion this week.
- Sunday, October 30: Sabbatical Sunday today, which means no church. Rest up, spend time with your family or with friends, go and visit another church. Lots of options!
Not sure when fall technically comes to an end and winter begins, but I’m going to cut things off here and post something new for the winter!
