The quiet, white blanket of crisp, twinkling snow and the diffuse light of an Alberta sun shining through the branches of a leafless elm tree can almost — not quite — make one forget how busy December can get! But hopefully for you it is a joyful kind of busy, with lots of opportunity to remember the reason(s) for the Season. Here are a few more ways to be busy this month…
December 5, 2021 @ 11am
For the first Sunday of the month, we are going to be doing a combination of singing Christmas carols (makerspace worship -style!) and what can only be described as a deconstructed brunch. Along with your voices (if you want to sing), feel free to bring supplies to draw, journal, read, or anything else that will help you turn your heart and mind towards God.
Because we can’t actually eat together because of COVID restrictions, for brunch we would like to propose that each household that wants to can bring something for folks to take home with them. So maybe bring some tupperware? (But you also don’t have to bring anything — and can still partake!) If you plan to bring something, send Jeff a note.
December 12, 2021 @ 11am
This week we will be taking part in an Anglican liturgical service, run by an actual Anglican!
As with all Borrow Sundays, the idea is to learn about other church practices, so do not worry if you don’t know what to expect: there will be explanations throughout and lots of opportunity to debrief and ask questions. This will be happening at Mount Carmel Bible School. If you are interested in joining via Zoom, send an email to info@ajesuscommunity.ca.
CANCELLED: December 19, 2021
No church today due to a few people with colds. Hope everyone has a good day, though, and a festive Christmas week!
December 25, 2021: It’s Christmas!
We don’t have anything planned for Christmas Day, but it seemed weird not to mention it! “Merry Christmas!” (Or “Happy Christmas” for the Road to Avonlea / UK friends out there).

Scrooge, despite being English, does actually say “Merry Christmas” in the original Dickens story. In fact, Dickens was the one who made it a capitalized greeting.
December 26, 2021 @ 11am
For this month’s Word! Sunday, we’ll be meeting at Mount Carmel at 11am, and Ruth will be speaking about the “Peace Child”. If you are interested in joining via Zoom, send an email to info@ajesuscommunity.ca.
As more details unfold about each week, we’ll update this page. Please note that our in-person events will follow Provincial and City of Edmonton guidelines for COVID-19, including masking and distancing requirements.
If you would like to be on the mailing list or to get the Zoom link, send an email to info@ajesuscommunity.ca. For more information about us, please visit ajesuscommunity.ca.
