What’s Happening in January 2024

2024 is going to be a great year. There’s a leap year — always a fun thing! The Olympics are happening (I have heard some people enjoy watching them)! Apparently, NASA is sending humans to the moon, which is sort of wild!

  • Sunday, January 7: We will be having worship and brunch together this week at Mount Carmel at 11am. Kids are upstairs with us. As usual, for folks who worship in other ways besides singing, there will be a big table for drawing on at the back.
  • Sunday, January 14: CHURCH CANCELLED THIS WEEK DUE TO COLD! Stay safe and warm everyone!
  • Sunday, January 21: We’re kicking off a new Word Sunday series: “Cosmic Jesus in the Real World”. We’ve been talking about how Jesus related to the people around him during his life on earth. For this series, we’ll be looking at John 1 to explore the significance of him being what St. Paul described as “the image of the invisible God”. This week introduces the series with a close look at John 1:1–5. Plan to meet at Mount Carmel at 11am. Sunday School will be available for kids in Grade 6 and under.
  • Sunday, January 28: We’ve got another Word Sunday this week (don’t despair — a three-week break from preaching to follow!). Jay will read a few more sentences in John’s Jesus-biography, and he’ll ponder why Cosmic Jesus in the Real World was unrecognized and unwanted. Same location as usual: Mount Carmel at 11am. Sunday School will be available for kids in Grade 6 and under.

If you’re interested in being on the email list for more details on what’s happening from week to week, send Jeff a note.

Thanks to CNN for prompting some of the things to look forward to this year. There were some other ones on this list that seemed less exciting, but to each their own!
