This summer we’re going to be going through some of the Psalms together. This is an open discussion time where we read a Psalm together and then talk about it as a community. This won’t happen every week, but on many of them. The schedule is below:
- Sunday, July 7: We’ll be meeting at 11am at Mount Carmel as usual and having a discussion about Psalm 1. Also, just a head’s up that this week we’re going to be doing B.Y.O.C. (bring your own coffee — or any other “C” you might want to bring… cranberry juice, Canada Dry, clotted cream, etc…)
- Sunday, July 14: This week we are going to be continuing the Psummer Psalms discussion time instead — this time taking a look at Psalm 9, which is the first half of an acrostic poem that included Psalm 9 and 10. Take a look at the Psalm ahead of time to see what jumps out for you! (Because of the rain, there will probably be a VeggieTales for kids downstairs.)
- Sunday, July 21: This Sunday, we’re going to be having a picnic together. Before we do that, though, we’re going to gather inside at Mount Carmel for a child dedication. For the picnic after, please bring food for your household (this one’s a B.Y.O.B. — bring your own basket). Everything gets going at 11am as usual.
- Sunday, July 28: We’ll be looking at another Psummer Psalm this week: Psalm 10.
- Sunday, August 4: It’s Sabbatical Sunday — so that means there’s no church! Go find a good way to rest.
- Sunday, August 10/11: Our bi-annual lunch packing event is going to be happening on Saturday, August 10. Picnic to follow at Mount Carmel. A few of us will be taking the lunches to ICPM on Sunday morning and to participate in the Community of Emmanuel service there. If you are interested, please reach out!
- August 25 — Psummer Psalm Psunday: Bring your favourite Psalm! Maybe we’ll call it, “Pshow & Ptell” (hmm… maybe not.)
- August 30-Sept 1 — Annual Peace Retreat: More details on the retreat are being circulated via email.
- Sept 8 — Borrow Sunday: Old School Lord’s Supper / “Open Communion” Sharing Time.
- Sept 15 — Elijah Run: This is Mount Carmel’s annual fundraiser and community BBQ. We’ll be helping out with this, but you can also sign up to run or walk or just come for the BBQ. More details are here.
